Spencer Baretz is a founder of Baretz+Brunelle and a trusted advisor to the world’s preeminent lawyers and law firm leaders.

He has been called a “Legal Business Trailblazer and Pioneer” by The National Law Journal, one of Lawdragon’s “100 Leading Legal Consultants and Strategists,” a “Communications Expert” by The American Lawyer, a “PR Executive of the Year” by PR News Magazine, and his perspectives on the legal industry have been cited by The New York Times and other leading media.

Spencer has also been called one of the industry’s most creative and visionary thinkers.

His creative ideas for clients have generated many of the most successful and novel marketing campaigns and growth initiatives in the legal industry. They have utilized proprietary data, incorporated partnerships with renowned academic institutions and business leaders, and pinpointed novel legal pockets to fuel campaigns that influence markets and build reputations. He has engineered the strategy and execution of some of the most high-profile, high-stakes litigation and transactional matters of our time, ranging from Enron and Ford Motor Company to GE Capital, WorldCom, and Belvedere Vodka.

And as the visionary for B+B’s own growth and evolution, Spencer leads the firm’s corporate development activities. His vision and continuous analysis of the legal marketplace has helped B+B evolve over two decades from a singularly focused strategic communications firm to the comprehensive, multi faceted growth advisory firm it is today, focusing on what drives growth for businesses in the new legal economy – reputation, talent, revenue, leadership, capital, and innovation.

Spencer’s training as a corporate lawyer and a litigator formed the foundation of his deep understanding of both the business and practice of law. He started his career at Rosenman & Colin LLP (now Katten Muchin Rosenman) in New York, where he represented large domestic and international corporations, middle-market and early-stage companies, institutional asset managers, and other financial services companies on mergers and acquisitions transactions, securities matters, and corporate financings across the capital structure. He previously served as a law clerk to United States District Judge I. Leo Glasser (E.D.N.Y), one of New York’s most respected federal judges.

Spencer is a graduate, cum laude, of Boston University and Hofstra University School of Law, and is published in the Hofstra Law Review.
